Woke up feeling tired and small and wanting to hide away in a corner and read bad pulp sci fi. Then the adrenaline of waking kicked in I was more in the mood to continue working on stuff. Now that I’m here the resistance is kicking in again, but that will fade, I’m sure. Get back to it and it will take care of itself.

The disassemblers occupy an uncomfortable position in society. Their work is appreciated by everyone who uses their services but most people find their occupation morbid and disgusting. They literally save lives, but are only able to do when a life has been taken. They are balance keepers of a sort. You could also argue that their business is to cannibalise the innocent dead for profit and that their good business keeps people alive who should by all rights die of their illnesses. This is double edged. It is humane to replace a failing heart, but every life that is saved is another life the system has to support and a small amount of population pressure that doesn’t get released through death.
